Born from nothing but a few chemicals and little bit of blood dug up from a trash bin in the back of the hospital. Yep that's me. Names Beck, well not really. My real name is Specimen B3CK45. I wish I could say I was the only specimen, but I'm not. I just so happen to be the only one that went right. The first of my kind. An avian-human hybrid. Whats an avian? Well it means bird.
A long time ago a scientist by the name of Dr. Reid was kicked from his research in a lab back in the United States. He was fired for "experimenting" on his patients. Well long story short the guy bought Kayko island. A really big island off the coast of Mexico, but it's further in the sea almost smack dab in the middle of the equator. So yeah it's pretty warm all year round. He set up a lab and hired a couple of his buddies and well came up with me.
There were others, but there was always something not quite right with them and they eventually died, or they came out really mutated and didn't even live to talk. I was the first. The complete specimen. Dr. Reid used tests on me. A lot of them. See I'm not like most humans. I have thin and very light bones like a bird does; which enables me to fly. Yes that does mean I have wings. In full length they stretch to 13 to 14 feet. You're probably thinking cool. I wish I could be a hybrid, but it isn't that simple. My genes were spliced so I don't have any parents I am what they call me a specimen.
I can run longer than a regular human and I eat a lot more than one to. Us hybrids have amazing stamina. Oh and did I mention I can read minds? Yeah I can do that as well. Each hybrid that is made has a special power. I was kept in a cage up until I was 8. After I was done being poked and probed with every size needle made in the book. I'm not the only hybrid. After his years of studying Dr. Reid got really good. His next creation was a wolf-human hybrid. Yes that does mean you morph into a wolf, but it is painful. Very painful. If you are born in the lab with the wolves genes already in you it's easier, but if you are brought to the island and injected with the genes then it becomes very painful. You go into a coma for a week. Sometimes you wake up with your memory and sometimes you don't. I on the other hand can only ever remember this. This life of tests and nothing, but hate for the creator. As the years have gone one Dr. Reid has established two more forms of successful hybrids. A fox-human hybrid and a feline-human hybrid. Like the Erasers they morph and they are made in the same way. We call the feline-human hybrids Toms and the fox-human hybrids Cons. I know that these aren't the last of the creations. Dr. Reid will come up with more and soon the island will be run over with different hybrids.
I'm 16 now and things are very different. They're others like me and we actually have freedom. Well as good as freedom can get. We are allowed to roam the island, which by the way is almost bigger than Texas. The creator is always making new hybrids. Kidnapping children and sometimes teens and injecting them with the animal genes of his choice and setting them free on the island to fight for their lives, but most of the time they are taken in by one of the four packs. You're probably thinking well you have wings why don't you fly away. It's not that simple. The creator knew this when he made Kayko island. There is an invisible shield surrounding the island. You probably think I am lying to keep you here with me, but I ain't and if you want I encourage you to try to leave. I did and I burnt my wings pretty bad.
The ones that are like me, the avian-human hybrids, we are called Avians and the human-wolf hybrids are called Erasers. In the beginning we hated each other, but now we spawn off and join one of the packs, or become loners and fight for ourselves. You would think that us Avians would go against the Erasers, but you will find that most of us have different strengths and personalities that makes us be accepted and not just because of what someone decided would be our faith by injecting us.
One day we will unite and go against the scientists, but for now we will just try and survive just like all of the other freaks made on this island.
